McCracken County Public Library has set up a display honoring Dolly Parton that invites community members to create paper butterflies at the library.

The exhibit is available now for visitors to explore.

Local workers took center stage Monday at Paducah’s annual Labor Day parade as unions, businesses + organizations honored the city’s dedicated workforce, celebrating a vibrant display of community pride.

The Murray-Calloway County Animal Shelter in Murray is accepting requests for barn cats that help control rodents on farms, barns, warehouses, or shops; the vaccinated, spayed or neutered cats are free, and interested residents can call during open hours at 81 Shelter Lane (270-759-4141 or 270-227-7600).

Byron Hoover, a Paducah native, recalled witnessing the September 11 attack from his New York City apartment as CNN covered the unfolding events and neighbors shared water and fruit to help each other.

He now attends an annual ceremony to honor those who lost their lives that day.

The 50th annual Grand Rivers Arts & Crafts Festival drew thousands who enjoyed local crafts and art (a long-held community tradition) at an event that celebrated creativity and unity.

The Dorena-Hickman Ferry reopened Monday after a brief closure due to very low water.
