I-69 lane restrictions and a KY 795 closure are expected in Marshall County Nov. 8-14

I-69 and I-24 work zones come with tighter limits

15 miles

55 mph
speed limit in the I-69 work zone
10.5 feet
width limit on the I-24 Ohio River Bridge

If you're driving through Marshall County next week, expect lane restrictions on I-69 and a closed stretch of KY 795, according to the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet's District 1 office. The I-69 asphalt project runs from mile point 24.9 near Mayfield to just south of Exit 41 at Benton.

KY 795/Scale Road is closed at mile point 5, between Milliken Mill Lane and KY 782/Salyer Creek Road, for culvert construction.

  • KY 795/Scale Road: local traffic only, finish expected late December
  • I-69 project: expected to wrap up by mid-November
  • I-24 Ohio River Bridge Phase 2: one lane each way until mid-November
  • U.S. 60 at KY 305: use U-turn crossovers, done around year's end

Most of the region's road work is set to finish by early 2027

  1. Mid-Nov.I-69 asphalt project and I-24 Ohio River Bridge Phase 2 are expected to wrap up.
  2. Late Nov.Old U.S. 60 near Kevil is expected to reopen at the end of November, when the new corridor project finishes.
  3. Early Dec.U.S. 45 bridge over Jackson Creek north of Water Valley should finish, weather permitting.
  4. Late Dec.KY 795/Scale Road culvert construction is expected to finish.
  5. Jan. 2027KY 1820/County Line Road stays closed to through traffic until early January, weather permitting.
  6. Apr. 2027KY 408 bridge replacement over Goose Creek is expected to finish by the end of April.

Plenty more closures sit in other District 1 counties, including KY 1099/7th St. in Hickman, which has a marked detour via KY 1463. And if you're headed afield for deer, modern firearms season opens next Saturday, so we'd check your route first.

Paducah Tilghman advances at 11-0 as Marion County forfeits its playoff game

Paducah Tilghman gets Friday night off. The Knights told Coach Thompson they have to forfeit the Class 4A first-round game, so the Blue Tornado move on to the second round. Thompson feels for the Marion seniors, but he's focused on getting his team healthy after a physical finale at Christian County. A night off is not a bad way to heal up.

Marion County's forfeit sends the Blue Tornado straight to the second round.

Other area teams did play. The week 12 Gridiron Glory roundup has McCracken County beating Central Hardin 49-14 in Class 6A and Calloway County topping Elizabethtown 31-28 in overtime in Class 4A.
