If you're headed downtown, look down near City Hall. Crews painted the crosswalk Monday, and the city says it's now complete.

  • Route: City Hall to
  • Colors: red, white and blue
  • Words: "Gone But Not Forgotten"
  • Image: a kneeling soldier

Mayor George Bray started the project and met with local veterans groups to settle on the colors and imagery. "Honoring those veterans is an important part of recognizing the sacrifices they have made for our country and our community," Bray said in a news release.

An interpretive panel explaining the crosswalk's imagery will be unveiled at the Veterans Day opening ceremony on Wed., Nov. 11. The plaza it leads to has four memorials, for World War II, the Korean War, the Vietnam War and the Global War on Terrorism.

The crosswalk was painted Nov. 2, and Veterans Day events follow on Nov. 11
