If you had Friday night circled for Tilghman football, here's the twist: the won't play. Marion County told Coach Thompson the Knights have to forfeit the Class 4A first-round game. That sends Tilghman to the second round and keeps the team perfect at 11-0.

Thompson feels for the Marion seniors who won't get one more game. His focus is getting his team healthy after a physical regular-season finale at Christian County.

The break comes at a good time, because basketball is already calling. Seven players and Thompson are juggling preseason basketball practice with the playoffs. "That is a lot to ask for in a kid, but they are putting in the work to make sure they are prepared for it," Thompson said.
